Épisode Le roi du blues S02E06 - Timeless Saison 2

Le 23 novembre 1936, à San Antonio (Texas) un homme entre avec une guitare au Gunter Hotel. Il rejoint un couple dans une chambre. L’homme était en train de dire à la femme qu’il ne fallait pas croire à la légende disant qu’un certain chanteur de Delta blues avait vendu son âme au diable pour mieux jouer. Le guitariste le contredit, comment expliqué sinon qu’en 5 ans seulement il soit devenu le meilleur guitariste de la région.

La femme est congédiée par son petit copain et les deux hommes commencent l’enregistrement d’un disque de Delta blues.

Dans le bunker, Rufus a passé une nuit très inconfortable sur le canapé car il a dû céder sa place à Jessica. Alors que Rufus se plaint à Wyatt et lui demande aussi de faire moins de bruit avec Jessica Lucy arrive et propose de dormir sur le canapé.

Jiya a encore une vision mais le cache à Rufus.

Rufus et Jiya ont réussi à ajouter un siège dans la capsule. Mais leur célébration est interrompue par un Mason ivre qui vient de lire un article à son sujet intitulé « La chute d’Icare ».

Denise Christopher arrive en disant à Wyatt qu’ils doivent discuter mais ils sont aussitôt interrompus par une alerte. Le vaisseau principal est retourné en 1936 à Sant Antonio. Ni Flynn, ni Lucy ne savent pourquoi. Mason leur parle alors de Robert Johnson qui en 1936 avec Don Law a enregistré une suite de disques de Delta blues ayant donné le modern blues, le modern blues ayant conduit au rock 'n' roll… Lucy pense que Rittenhouse veut tuer la révolution culturelle des années 1960, la lutte pour les droits civils, éviter la chute de Nixon et la fin de la Guerre du Vietnam.

L’équipe suggère que Mason les accompagne mais il est très réticent, il n’a jamais voyagé dans une de ses machines.

L’agent Christopher veut que Flynn les accompagne et que Wyatt reste au bunker et remet une arme à Flynn pour la première fois. Une fois la capsule partie, Denise demande à Wyatt de pénétrer seul dans le local où elle a été retenue par Carol Preston et qui a été localisé grâce à sa puce. Il s’agit seulement de collecter des informations.

Jiya demande à l’agent Christopher si on peut cacher des choses aux gens qu’on aime mais ne s’étend pas sur le sujet.

En 1936, l’équipe après avoir volé une voiture et des vêtements arrive dans la chambre d’hôtel juste au moment où l’agent de Rittenhouse mettait en joue Robert Johnson et sauve le musicien.

Law voit dans cette tentative de meurtre la preuve que Johnson est maudit et refuse de poursuivre les enregistrements. Tandis qu’ils tentent de convaincre Law, Johnson leur fausse compagnie. Lucy et Flynn restent avec Law tandis que Rufus et Mason partent à la recherche de Johnson. Lucy parvient à convaincre Law de ne pas abandonner la production musicale pour redevenir comptable.

Rufus et Mason retrouvent Johnson en route pour retrouver sa sœur. Il ne veut plus entendre parler de disque car il a peur du diable qui l’accompagne quand il joue. Il accepte que Rufus et Mason le conduisent au tripot tenu par sa sœur Carrie.

Wyatt en uniforme de combat de la Delta force entre dans les locaux de Rittenhouse en liaison avec Jiya et Denise. Les locaux sont vides mais Wyatt est attaqué par un garde qu’il parvient à maitriser et trouve sur lui un badge.

Dans une cabine téléphonique réservée aux blancs, Rufus appelle le Gunter Hotel et laisse un message pour Lucy. Mason essaie à nouveau de convaincre Johnson de ne pas abandonner la musique. Rufus apprend que Robert a longtemps été un musicien moqué par ses pairs puis qu’une nuit à un carrefour il a laissé le diable accordé sa guitare. Depuis il est devenu un excellent guitariste mais le malheur s’abat sur les gens qui l’entourent. Il était déjà deux fois veuf à 21 ans. Les histoires de Mason et Robert ont des similitudes qui n’échappent pas à Mason.

A l’hôtel Flynn profite du fait que Law soit allé chercher du matériel pour parler à Lucy de la situation délicate entre elle et Wyatt, et du fait qu’elle cache une bouteille de vodka sous son lit. Flynn a appris cela dans le journal de Lucy, journal à travers lequel il a appris à la connaitre et pense la comprendre. Un groom apportant le message de Rufus interrompt ce moment gênant.

Au bar de Carrie, Rufus et Mason rencontrent Muddy Waters, Eddie "Son" House Jr. et Bessie Smith mais Carrie, elle, vient de s’absenter.

A l’hôtel, alors qu’ils s’apprêtent à rejoindre Johnson, la petite amie de Don Law sort un pistolet et tue Law. Elle parvient à s’enfuir après avoir entendu où trouver Johnson.

Dans la voiture, Flynn s’excuse pour ses propos maladroits et dit à Lucy qu’il aimerait apprendre à la connaitre. Flynn fredonne une chanson qu’aimait sa femme. Lucy dit que sa mère l’aimait aussi. Flynn raconte des souvenirs de sa femme et Lucy des souvenirs d’Amy. Lucy comprend que Flynn savait grâce au journal que sa mère chantait cette chanson. Lucy pense qu’ils ne reverront jamais leur famille disparue, Flynn refuse d’abandonner.

Au bar de Carrie, Rufus s’inquiète pour la mission tandis que Mason a une crise existentielle. Carrie arrive enfin.

Wyatt en tenue de combat est entré dans le QG de Rittenhouse localisé grâce au badge. Jiya s’inquiète de l’y savoir seul, mais l’agent Christopher a peur d’une trahison si elle envoie des renforts. Wyatt arrive à prendre le dessus successivement sur 4 hommes mais l’un d’entre eux parvient à déclencher un système d’alarme. Nicholas appuie immédiatement sur un détonateur pour tout faire sauter. Wyatt élimine d’autres hommes mais hésite à tirer sur Carol malgré les ordres de Denise. Nicholas arrive et tire sur Wyatt. Emma, Carol et Nicholas parviennent à partir avec le vaisseau.

En 1936, l’agent de Rittenhouse braque Robert Johnson mais Rufus parvient à sauver le musicien. Devenu la cible de la meurtrière, Rufus est sauvé par un tir de Mason. Lucy et Flynn arrivés dans le sillage de la meurtrière vont installer le matériel pendant que Rufus essaye de convaincre Mason de procéder à l’enregistrement. Rufus lui rappelle comment il a pris le temps de venir au MIT lui dire qu’il croyait en lui alors qu’il était découragé. Il veut aujourd’hui lui renvoyer l’ascenseur. Mason confie à Robert qu’il en est au même point que lui et qu’ils doivent tous les deux décider d’abandonner ou de relever la tête. Le « Tout plutôt que l’oubli » semble avoir convaincu Robert et toute l’équipe assiste à l’enregistrement avec la sœur et les amis de Robert.

Au quartier général de Rittenhouse l’agent Christopher reproche à Wyatt d’avoir épargné Carol parce qu’elle est la mère de Lucy. Elle lui demande de régler le problème.

Au bunker l’équipe revient euphorique et l’histoire n’a pas changé. Wyatt les voit se congratuler, et demande à Lucy qui partait dans la même direction que Flynn s’il peut lui parler. Il lui raconte pour le QG de Rittenhouse et elle lui dit que Flynn a été génial. Elle préfère lui raconter les détails plus tard et lui dit de rejoindre Jessica.

Dans sa chambre Mason écoute un disque de Robert Johnson et entend le son de sa propre voix. Le nom sous lequel il s’était présenté figure sur la pochette du disque.

Lucy frappe à la porte de la chambre de Flynn une bouteille d’alcool à la main. Il la fait entrer.

Dans leur chambre Rufus accepte que Jiya lui parle de ses visions. Elle l’a vu mourir.

Denise Christopher : You were being funded by Rittenhouse.
Mason : I allowed myself to become a global joke.

Jiya : These seizures are more than seizures. They're premonitions of the future. And lately, they've been of your future. I had a vision about a man dying, and he died.
Rufus : Maybe you shouldn't tell me what's in your visions.

Flynn : I know everything about you. You want to know how I know?
Lucy : I didn't write that.
Flynn :  But you will.

Lucy : You never told me where you got it from.
Flynn : You gave it to me.
Lucy : Uh, no, I didn't.
Flynn : Not yet.

Lucy : We have each other. Don't we?
Wyatt : Yes.

Wyatt : Jessica's alive. Lucy, I'm so sorry.

Jessica : I love you, but I can't be married to a state secret.
Wyatt : No, I'm gonna tell you everything.
Try not to freak out.
[whooshing, rattling.]
[dramatic music.]

Lucy : You were always on Wyatt's mind, because he never stopped loving you.
Wyatt : Jessica's giving me a second chance, and she said it was 'cause of you.
Lucy : You deserve to finally be happy, Wyatt.

Betty : Some people say he made a deal with the devil. That true, Donny?
Don Law : Betty, these Delta blues singers are full of stories.
Betty : But how you know that for sure?
Don Law : It's all just superstitions and hocus-pocus, that's how.
Robert Johnson : I wouldn't bet money on that. I might be the best guitar player around, Mr. Law, but five years ago, I couldn't play a lick. Now how else but the devil you think that could've happened?
Don Law : Well, I guess we'll just have to see if you're the best around, Robert.
Betty : Hello, Mr. Johnson.
Don Law : Betty get Mr. Johnson and me two Orange-Crush sodas from the corner?
Betty : But I thought you said I could watch him play.
Don Law : I promise, I'll play everything you missed later on tonight.
[giggles.]
Don Law : I have you set up just the way you asked [switches flipping.] Facing the wall. Is that right?  [guitar strumming.] What's the matter, Robert? Too shy to be famous? [laughs softly.]
Robert : I'm gonna make us both famous.

Rufus : [exhales sharply.] [sighs.][grimaces.]

Wyatt : Hey.
Rufus : Hey, I'm glad you and Jessica are enjoying the room.
Wyatt : I know, I feel bad about
Rufus : Because that 1950s Kem Weber sofa sleeps like a dream. It's like staying at the Four Seasons.
Wyatt : Really?
Rufus : Yeah, except there's only ever one season, and that season is winter. [chuckles.]
Wyatt : Look, I owe you, okay?
Rufus : Yeah, well, you might want to use that towel to stuff under the door to stop the, uh, noise. This is still, believe it or not, a work environment.
[both laugh.]
Lucy : Rufus, why don't you and Jiya take our room for a few nights? I'll be fine on the couch, really.
Morning, Wyatt.
Wyatt : Hi.
[door creaks, slams.]
Rufus : But I really have to pee.

Rufus : You okay?
Jiya : Yeah, I just, um I didn't get a lot of sleep last night.
Rufus : Because of weird vision-related reasons? If so, I told you I'd rather not know.
Jiya : No, I just, because of Too much red wine last night, okay? Take it easy.  Um [computer chirps.] Any luck adding a fourth seat to the "Lifeboat"?
Rufus : Well, unlike the Mothership, this baby was put together with tinfoil and Juicy Fruit. But the math is good as long as the coding checks out.
[computer chimes.]
Rufus :  Muah, muah! [laughs.] And that, my love, is how you upgrade a time machine.
Mason : Bravo, bravo, bravo. utstanding work See, you and Jiya didn't need me mucking it up.
Rufus : Are you drunk?
Mason : "Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more."
Rufus : So, yes, then?
Mason : But I have something to add to the merriment. "Icarus Descending: The Fall & Catastrophe of Connor Mason." Yikes.
Rufus : Why are you even reading this stuff?
Mason : Because, Rufus, today is the day I finally lose control Of Mason Industries and all of my holdings. Today, Connor Mason is officially, um nobody. A toast. To oblivion. Oblivion!

Denise Christopher : Wyatt.
Wyatt : Where've you been?
Denise Christopher : I need to speak with you.
Wyatt : What's up?
[alarm blaring.]
Denise Christopher : Damn it, the Mothership jumped. We got to deal with that first.
Wyatt : First? What are we dealing with second?
Jiya : San Antonio, Texas. November 23, 1936.
Denise Christopher : Lucy?
Lucy : The Texas Centennial Exposition? 6 million people attended, including President Roosevelt.
Wyatt : FDR sounds like a Rittenhouse target to me.
Lucy : Agreed, but the Exposition took place in Dallas, - a few hundred miles away.
Denise Christopher : What about you? Ever pick up any Rittenhouse intel about this?
Flynn : Zilch.
Wyatt : Well, if you're not here to provide intelligence, what are you good for?
Mason :  It's got to be the Gunter Hotel, it's obvious. The Gunter Hotel is in San Antonio.
Rufus : Connor, can you just
Denise Christopher : Why would Rittenhouse care about a hotel?
Mason : Because in that hotel on November the 23rd, 1936, Robert Johnson and Don Law changed the world.
Wyatt : [scoffs.] How?
Mason : By recording a series of albums.
Flynn : Okay, keep drinking.
Mason : Robert Johnson. King of the Delta blues? Father of rock 'n' roll? You people are philistines!
Flynn : Are you saying Rittenhouse is going after some blues singer?
Mason : The blues singer. Look, if it wasn't for Robert Johnson, there'd be no modern blues.
No modern blues, no rock 'n' roll, none of your Elvis, Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin None of them.
Rufus : Which is bad no doubt, no one wants to listen to Pat Boone on a radio 24/7, but I think I'm missing the larger geopolitical point.
Lucy : Actually, Mason makes sense. It wouldn't just be Rittenhouse killing rock 'n' roll at its source, it would be them killing the cultural revolution of the 1960s, the civil rights movement, the The fall of Nixon, the end of the Vietnam War, the counterculture as we know it.
Wyatt : Wait, wait, wait, you're saying all of this happens because two guys don't record an album?
Mason : Precisely.
Denise Christopher : Get the "Lifeboat" prepped. Gear up. Get going.
Rufus : Fourth seat's ready. I say Connor takes it.
Lucy :   Yeah, absolutely.
Mason : Absolutely not.
Rufus : Connor, you obviously know more about Robert Johnson and his albums than any of us.
Mason : Yeah [scoffs.] So I'll debrief Lucy as you prepare to launch.
Flynn : Are you you are afraid of riding in your own invention.
Lucy : Wait a minute. All those test trips before we met you? You never once time traveled yourself?
Mason : It's bloody dangerous.
 [laughs.]
Lucy : Yeah, I know.
Mason : And perhaps Rufus and Jiya have made the correct calculations to safely - transport a fourth person.
Rufus : We did.
Mason : Yes, but perhaps you didn't, so no.
Denise Christopher : You're going. Get Connor some coffee.
Mason : Hey, you hey, wait one damn minute.
Denise Christopher : Flynn, you're on board this mission. Wyatt, you're staying here with me.
Wyatt : What?
Lucy :  But why?
Rufus :  You can't be serious.
Denise Christopher : Look, Flynn's already been on a couple of missions. We either start trusting him, or we don't.
Rufus : We don't. We definitely don't.
Denise Christopher : Too bad.
Flynn : Oh.
[dramatic music.]
Wyatt : Keep them safe.
[gun clicks.]
Flynn : I wouldn't have it any other way.
[whirring.]
[whooshing.]
Wyatt : Please, you don't trust Flynn any more than Rufus or me. What the hell is going on here? Why am I not with the team?
Denise Christopher : How would you like to take out Rittenhouse for good?
Carol Preston held me here.
Wyatt : How'd you find it?
Denise Christopher : From the GPS chip implanted in my neck. It was pinging from that location for eight hours.
Wyatt :  Sure, super normal.
Denise Christopher :  But we need you to raid that facility. We'll give you a helmet-cam, and Jiya and I will have eyes on you from here.
Wyatt : How big's my team?
Denise Christopher : You're going solo.
Jiya : Against all of Rittenhouse? You're sending in the cavalry?
Denise Christopher : I don't trust the cavalry. I trust Wyatt. Now, this is only an intelligence gathering mission, not an assault get in, get what's there, get out.
Wyatt : Modern day, modern weapons. I'm in. Let me grab my gear and tell Jess not to expect me for dinner.
Denise Christopher : Jiya? Jiya? Are you all right?
Jiya : Can I ask you a question?
Denise Christopher : Yeah. What?
Jiya : Is it okay to keep secrets from someone you love?
Denise Christopher : What kind of secrets? What are you talking about?
Jiya : Nothing. Uh, Rufus and me Just relationship issues. Never mind.
Denise Christopher : All right, set up the link. He's leaving in ten minutes.
Jiya : Yup.

Mason : Our earliest pilots would report how like the present the past initially seems. The sound, the air Like nothing's changed except space-time compression. And look, I can see the hairs stand from the quantum-gravitational bursts. And I can hear the faintest sparks crackle in the air. Ah, this is quite ex [gags, vomits.]
Flynn : And boom goes the dynamite! [groans.]
Lucy : So how long until Johnson records his album?
Mason : Um, um, one hour and 17 minutes.
Rufus : Better hurry.
Mason :  Yes, let's get going. Um, h-how do we begin?
BOTH: Get some clothes, steal a car.
Mason : Okay.
[car honking.]
[bluesy music.]
Robert chante : You can run, you can run Tell my friend Willie Brown You can run, you can run Tell my friend Willie Brown
[door bangs.]
Don Law : Oh!
[gunshot.]
Don Law : What the holy hell?
Lucy :  I'm Taylor Swift, this is Agent Timberlake. We're part of the new FBI.
Robert : H-Hoover's hiring women?
Lucy :  We're reorganizing.
Don Law : With Negroes?
Rufus : Well, we're [clears throat.]
Mason : I'm Lando Calrissian, British Intelligence. Kenya station. His Majesty sends his regards. So we'll just remove the deceased, and you gentlemen can continue doing whatever it is you were doing.
Don Law : Remove the deceased? Are you mad?
Robert : That ofay just tried to kill us, and you want us to pretend like it didn't happen?
Lucy : No, no, this is just a big misunderstanding.
Flynn : He was a bootlegger, a common hood.
Rufus : He must've come in here by accident.
Don Law : No, he didn't come in by accident he was aiming - his gun at you, wasn't he?
Robert : Now hold on, Mr. Law, I don't know who in the hell that is -Or was, come on, now.
Don Law : They-they warned me. They said, "Donald, don't record with Johnson, he's cursed," and the proof of that pudding's in the eating.
Robert : Man, I got your pudding right here!
Lucy : Gentlemen, gentlemen, please!
Robert : You know, I don't need this crap, I'm out of here.
Don Law : Yeah, well, that makes two of us get out!
Mason : Listen, Law, perhaps you can reconsider.
Don Law : Take your damn hand off me, sir.
Mason : Look, you gentlemen have to resolve this disagreement and record this record.
It's important.
Don Law : Now, why would British intelligence care about a music recording session, hmm? Mason : Well, uh, well, I suppose it's
Lucy : We're fans.
Flynn :  Huge fans.
Rufus : Huge, big fans.
Lucy : Incredible fans.
Don Law : Yeah, well, whatever you are, you're wasting your time.
Mason : Why is that?
Don Law : The other half of the equation's gone, isn't he? Good luck finding him. His disappearing acts are legendary.
Mason : Lucy, we we obviously have to find Robert before he leaves town.
Lucy : You and Rufus You go after Johnson. We'll stay here with Law. Go.
Don Law : Now, would you kindly remove your dead fugitive from my equipment? [whistle blows.]
Lucy : You have to help Robert Johnson make this album.
Don Law : No, madam, I do not. My father was right. I'm a three-time loser.
Lucy : I don't think you're a loser. I think what you're doing is amazing.
Don Law : [LAUGHS.] And how would you know?
Lucy : Because Robert Johnson's amazing. And you could make him a legend. He could be the next Fats Waller or Billie Holiday.
Don Law : I tried. I nearly ended up dead for my trouble.
Lucy : Do you want to be a bookkeeper - the rest of your life?
Don Law : How would you know that?
Lucy : I told you, we're the FBI. We know things. Look, I get that it's a lot safer at your desk, but your instincts about Johnson are right. He's [SIGHS.] He's a special talent.
Don Law : He is, isn't he?
Lucy : And this could be your chance to change the world and prove to your father just how wrong he is. Or you can just keep being a bookkeeper.
[chuckles.]
Don Law : I get what you're doing. It's a shameless manipulation.
Lucy : I didn't mean any disrespect, Mr. Law
Don Law : I didn't say it didn't work. I might have some spare vacuum tubes and repair parts in my truck. If your lads can find Robert
Lucy : They'll find him.
Don Law : All right.

Sur une route
[gloomy blues music.]
Rufus : Robert! Mr. Johnson, hold up!
Robert : Look, now, I don't want no trouble from y'all.
Rufus : We don't want any either.
Mason : Where you going?
Robert : Not that it's any of your damn business, mister, but I'm fixing to see my sister.
Rufus : Well, how about before that you give us a chance to make things right with Mr. Law? Robert : Ain't no going back. I'm cursed. I made a deal with the devil and now his note's finally coming due. That old recording washout was just the devil having himself a laugh.
Rufus : Mr. Johnson, the record you make today could change the world.
Robert : Friend-boy, I'm just a Delta blues singer that play for get-backs, Saturday night balls, and street corner pennies Ol' Bob ain't changing a damn thing.
Mason : Your sister's name is Carrie Thompson, She says she's the only person you still love, and the only one you've never hurt. She owns a juke joint, doesn't she? Not too far away.
Robert : You know Carrie?
Mason :  Oh, yeah. She's very lively. Tied a few on at her bar from time to time.
Rufus : Connor, what are you doing?
Mason : So why don't we take you there, drive you to her place?
Rufus : I thought you said we had to get him to record at the hotel? If Johnson won't go to Law, we'll get Lucy and Flynn to bring Law to him. What choice do we have? Come on.
Robert : All right, friend-boys. But I don't want to hear nothing else about making no doggone record.
Mason : Oh, your lips to God's ears.
[EERIE MUSIC.]

Wyatt : You guys getting this?
Jiya : Coming in clear.
Wyatt : Agent Christopher, this look familiar?
Denise Christopher : Believe me, this is it.
Wait, go back. Your eight!
[both grunting.]
Jiya : Oh, my God, Wyatt!
[both grunting, struggling.]
Denise Christopher : Wyatt?  
 [grunting.]
 [gunshots.]
 [screams.]
Jiya : Wyatt?
Denise Christopher : Wyatt?  
Wyatt : Yeah, I'm here.
Denise Christopher : Are you okay?
Wyatt : A lot better than this dick. Looks like I just risked my neck for an empty room.
Jiya : Does he have anything on him?
Wyatt : Some kind of key fob.
Jiya : Wyatt, is there a serial number on it?
Wyatt : Yeah, TS PROX D02 531279.
Denise Christopher : Can you hack it?
Jiya :  Issued by AICS Securities. It's a high-frequency access fob to a priority client.
Denise Christopher : Do we have a name? A company? An individual?
Jiya : No.
Wyatt :  What about an address?
Denise Christopher : What we need is Rittenhouse's base of operations.
Jiya : There's a pretty advanced firewall here. Give me a couple hours to crack it.

Texas
[blues music playing over radio.]
Station service
Robert : Your friend better make that call quick, or we can't get out of here fast enough.
Mason : Yeah.
Rufus :  Operator? I need you to connect me to the Gunter Hotel. It's important.
Mason : So, um, are we gonna get to hear you play at your sister's juke joint?
Robert : Won't be there long enough. Just dropping in to say good-bye.
Mason : Good-bye?
Robert : Yeah. I'm gonna ramble on and get myself gone, where no one'll ever find me.
Rollin' stones gather no moss.
Mason : Are you sure that's a good idea?
Robert :  What do you give a damn? -
Mason : Mr. Johnson, you can make a guitar sound like two. You're a poet. You could be great Truly great.
Robert : You some kind of expert on me?
Mason : Look, Mr. Law Believes in your talent, and so do I.
Robert : No, Mr. Law believes I'm cursed, and I agree.
Rufus : I left a message for Lucy. I just hope she gets it.
Mason : Yeah, I know the story, Robert. How you tried to play at the Saturday night balls and the other bluesmen would just laugh at you because well, you weren't any good. Rufus : I'm sorry, are we talking about this like it really happened?
Robert : The devil made me a widower at 18 and did it to me again when I was 21. And I'll tell you something else, mister. People around me don't make out so good neither. They've been shot, stabbed, poisoned. Death and heartbreak follow me everywhere I turn. I can't do it no more. I can't keep hurting and disappointing the people I love. If you ever struck a deal with the devil, then you know exactly what I'm talking about.
Mason : Maybe not quite as literally. But I've made my own deal with the devil. It cost me everything I had.
Robert : Then you understand the tune I'm playing. When I say good-bye to my sister I'm walking away from that guitar for good.

Flynn : Lucy [sighs.] I think it's time we, uh, leveled with each other. I'm way more fun on these missions than Wyatt, right? [laughs.]
Lucy : You're delusional.
Flynn : Must be, uh, awkward between you two.
Lucy : It's not awkward between us.
Flynn : Wyatt and Rufus giggling like schoolboys about Wyatt's late-night activities with Jessica? That wasn't awkward?
Lucy : Nope.
Flynn : So that's not why you secretly keep a bottle of vodka under your bed?
Lucy : Are you spying on me?
Flynn : No. I do remember reading about it in your journal. Lucy, when you gave me that book

Look, at first, all I cared about was that it was a tool to take down Rittenhouse, but the more I read it, the longer I stayed with it, the more I felt like I knew you, understood you. I was rich, I was famous, I was powerful, and I lost it all. So I'm at the same crossroads as you, Robert. But what do I do? Do I walk away or fight back? And yes, maybe you made a deal with the devil, and maybe you didn't, but this bad luck That's gonna keep chasing you until you decide to stop, stand your ground, and fight. To hell with oblivion.
