Épisode Une vraie bombe S01E03 - Timeless Saison 1

Lucy est chez elle avec son fiancé, un homme qu'elle n'a jamais rencontré auparavant dans sa vie. Elle regarde des albums photos de leurs souvenirs passés, mais, ne ressent rien pour les images qu'elle voit.
De son côté, Wyatt examine les documents relatifs à la mort de sa femme, tandis que Rufus parle avec Mason. Mason croit qu'Anthony, le chef de projet, a aidé Flynn de l'intérieur. Rufus nie ces allégations et insiste sur le fait qu'Anthony a été enlevé, mais Mason révèle qu'il a téléphoné 30 minutes avant l'infiltration de Flynn dans Mason Industries, et le numéro qu'il a appelé a été déconnecté.

Flynn a voyagé vers le 21 septembre 1962 à Las Vegas. Le président John F. Kennedy est en ville pour une collecte de fonds avec Frank Sinatra. Nous le voyons rapidement au lit avec une femme, qui va à la fenêtre de la chambre de son hôtel pour regarder une explosion à l'extérieur. C'est un test de bombe atomique dans le désert. Kennedy s'approche d'elle et l'embrasse, et Flynn, qui se cache à l'extérieur, prend des photographies des deux ensemble.

De retour à Mason Industries, après que Jiya a réussi à preciser la localisation de Flynn sur un rayon de 50 kilomètres, Lucy, Rufus et Wyatt déterminent que Flynn doit être à Las Vegas, alors ils s'habillent dans des vêtements des années 1960 et prennent la capsule pour le trouver. À l'hôtel où Kennedy est, Rufus vole des uniformes, et les trois se changent rapidement afin de pouvoir se fondre avec le personnel.

Alors que Lucy se promène dans la salle de spectacle, un homme lui met la main aux fesses, et  Judith Campbell, la femme qui était avec Kennedy plus tôt intervient. Pendant ce temps, Rufus aperçoit Anthony près du bar et se précipite vers lui. Il essaie de convaincre Anthony de partir, de le sauver de Flynn, mais il se rend vite compte qu'Anthony n'est pas retenu contre sa volonté. En fait, il a aidé Flynn tout au long, bien qu'il semble réticent.

Dans la foule, Wyatt voit Flynn habillé en serveur qui va vers Campbell. Flynn emmène la femme dans un couloir et Wyatt les poursuit.
Les deux hommes se battent et Flynn parvient à s'enfuir. Rufus et Lucy les rejoignent. La femme que Wyatt a secouru dit que son nom est Judith Campbell. Ce nom parle à Lucy.

Le trio emmène la maîtresse de Kennedy dans une chambre d'hôtel. Lucy sait que Judith transmettra des messages de Kennedy à la mafia et explique qu'elle est la maîtresse des hommes les plus puissants au monde. Judith leur dit que Flynn a des photos compromettantes d’elle avec Kennedy qui pourraient détruire les chances de Kennedy pour les prochaines élections.

Flynn s'approche d'Anthony et de ses sbires dans le désert du Nevada. Il demande à Anthony comment il est possible que Lucy, Wyatt et Rufus aient pu les trouver puisqu’il leur a dit qu'ils ne verraient que la date à laquelle ils se rendaient. Anthony répond que Rufus doit avoir compris comment trouver leur emplacement.

Flynn veut tuer Rufus afin qu'ils ne puissent pas être suivis. Anthony l'implore de ne pas blesser Rufus parce qu'il est son ami et lui rappelle tout ce qu’il a fait pour cette mission, y compris abandonner sa femme et ses enfants. Flynn précise que leur objectif est d'effacer Rittenhouse de l'histoire.

De retour dans la chambre d'hôtel, Wyatt demande à Rufus qui est Christy Pitt, mais Rufus répond qu'il ne sait pas. Rufus refuse de croire qu'Anthony le blesserait, et encore moins qu’il aiderait Flynn. Wyatt révèle qu'il veut tuer Anthony parce que, sans Anthony, Flynn ne pourrait pas continuer à voyager avec le Mothership.

Wyatt veut rapidement trouver Flynn et, contre les souhaits de son équipe, il utilise Judith comme appât. Il la positionne devant la fenêtre de sa chambre de l'hôtel pour avoir l'attention de Flynn. Après avoir repéré Flynn, Wyatt se met en position, prêt à tirer dès que Flynn entre dans la pièce. Mais avant que cela ne se produise, Judith le frappe sur la tête et sort de la pièce. Au bout du couloir, l'ascenseur s'ouvre avec Flynn à l'intérieur et Judith se dirige vers lui afin qu'ils puissent honorer leur marché et qu'elle puisse récupérer les photos.

Flynn conduit Judith au site de test nucléaire du Nevada pour rencontrer un général. Alors que Flynn attend à l'extérieur, Judith séduit l'homme et, quand il sort de la pièce, vole ses clés, qu'elle remet à Flynn en échange des photographies et de leurs négatifs.

Ne sachant pas où se trouve Flynn et Judith, Wyatt s'approche de l'employé de la Western Union pour envoyer un télégramme à Jessica, sa femme, l'encourageant à rentrer à la maison avec lui le 11 février 2012, peu importe comment il se comporte. Quand il a fini de dicter son message, il se retourne et trouve Lucy debout derrière lui. Elle dit qu'elle comprend, mais que son travail consiste à garder l'histoire inchangée. Wyatt ne croit pas que les choses soient définie.s

Rufus se précipite vers les deux et leur dit qu'il a compris pourquoi Flynn a voyagé dans les années 1960 à Las Vegas. Il s'est rendu compte que Christy Pitt n'est pas une femme comme ils l'avaient cru. C'est en fait l'argot pour le noyau de plutonium de la bombe atomique.

On voit Flynn et Anthony ouvrir une porte pour révéler une bombe atomique sous le regard surpris de Judith.

Lucy, Wyatt et Rufus se précipitent sur le site d'essai nucléaire pour empêcher Flynn de prendre la bombe, mais ils est trop tard. Avec Wyatt derrière le volant, ils foncent face à la voiture de Flynn, ce qui fait que Flynn se déporte. Ils sortent tous de leurs voitures. Wyatt commence une fusillade avec Flynn, tandis que Lucy se dirige vers Judith et Rufus vers Anthony. Rufus convainc Anthony de lui remettre sa mallette, qu'il pense contenir le noyau de la bombe atomique. Flynn, Anthony et leurs hommes s'échappent en voiture. Wyatt vise le véhicule, mais Rufus saute devant son pistolet. Il ne veut pas blesser Anthony, et il insiste sur le fait qu'ils ne doivent pas le faire, car ils ont déjà le noyau de la bombe. Wyatt dépose son arme, et le trio examine la mallette : elle est vide.

De retour dans le présent, l'équipe doit admettre à l'agent Christopher que, bien qu'ils aient réussi à garder l'histoire inchangée, ils n'ont pas pu empêcher Flynn de partir avec le noyau de la bombe. Christopher apprend aussi qu'Anthony n'a pas été kidnappé, mais qu’il travaille avec Flynn, et elle ordonne à Wyatt de le tuer. Mason demande à Jiya si elle peut retrouver le Mothership dans le présent. Elle dit qu'elle peut probablement le faire, mais ça prend du temps. Plus tard, elle est capable de localiser le rayon de 50 kilomètre dans lequel le Mothership doit être stationné.

Wyatt recherche sa femme en ligne et apprend qu'elle est toujours morte. Son télégramme n'a pas changé l'histoire. Il admet devant Lucy que ce n'était pas gagné d’avance. Ensuite, Lucy retourne chez elle pour emporter ses affaires. Elle dit à son fiancé qu'elle n'a pas les idées claires et qu'elle a besoin de temps pour régler les choses. Il comprend, et il lui dit qu'il sera là quand elle sera prête.

De leur côté, Flynn et ses hommes vont dans le désert du Nevada, la même région qu'ils avaient visitée dans les années 1960. Ils creusent le sol et récupèrent le noyau de la bombe atomique qu'ils ont enterré il y a plus de 55 ans.

[mellow folk music.]
Noah : You didn't come to bed last night.
Lucy : Oh.
Noah : What you doing?
Lucy : Just, uh feeling nostalgic. [Lucy regarde des photos de Noah et elle.]
Noah : Ah. You remember that? That was a perfect day, wasn't it?
Lucy : Yeah. The beach was amazing.
Noah : And it was the day we got engaged.
Lucy : Yeah. That too.
Noah : Speaking of, guess what I found in the bathroom?
Lucy : Oh, no. What?

Lucy : Uh, I don't I don't know. The Cuban missile crisis happens a month later.
Denise Christopher : Well, figure it out on your way in. Flynn took out the Mothership, and we're hours behind him.

Denise Christopher : Three hours since Flynn jumped, and you still don't know where? Well, we know when. When's easy. Where in '62? Much harder. Could be anywhere.
Jiya : Almost cracked it, though.
Denise Christopher : Crack harder.
Mason : Rufus. Can you come with me a moment?
Rufus : Give me a minute. We're close.

Mason : It's about Anthony.
Rufus : What about Anthony?
Mason : I've been doing a lot of thinking about him lately. And on the night Garcia Flynn stole the Mothership, did Anthony do anything Say anything to you That might have seemed, I don't know, strange?
Rufus : No. Why?
Mason : We've taken a peek at Anthony's cell phone records. 30 minutes before Flynn stormed the place, Anthony made a phone call to an unknown number since disconnected.
Rufus : Okay.
Mason : Flynn outsmarting our security so easily Well, it makes a lot more sense if he had inside assistance.
Rufus : From Anthony? You can't be serious.
Mason : We've just suffered a devastating attack. Now, we need to consider all possibilities. Well, consider some others. Anthony is the victim here. He was kidnapped. He doesn't need us questioning his loyalty. He needs us to save him.
Mason : Yes, of course.

Jiya : I got it. Guys, I know where they are. Um, uh, okay, so it turns out that the negative-mass kinetic energy given off by the Mothership actually leaves behind a trace of … They're in Nevada. Somewhere in this 50-mile radius.
Mason : Uh, not exactly a pinpoint. Can we do any better than 50 miles? -
Jiya : Sorry, no.
Wyatt : Well, it's either the desert or Vegas, so Vegas.
Denise Christopher : But why would Flynn go there?

Lucy : I'm looking. Okay, September 21st. Vegas, 1962. President Kennedy was in town for a DNC fund raiser at the Sands hotel. Sinatra headlining.
Rufus : So what are we thinking? Flynn's gonna "JFK" JFK one year early?
Lucy :  Maybe. That room was filled with celebrities, politicians, Mafia Flynn could kill any of them, and it would be a disaster.
Wyatt : Well, we need to get there first.

Sands hotel
[upbeat lounge music.]
Sinatra : How did all these people get in my room? [applause.]
haut-parleur : Ladies and gentlemen, please head to the pool. The show is about to begin!

Rufus : Congratulations?
Wyatt : To who?
Lucy : Exactly. His name is Noah. I've never met him before, but there's all these pictures of us on vacation that I have no memory of. I mean, ever since that we got back from the Hindenburg, my life has completely changed overnight.
Wyatt : You gonna take his name or are you gonna keep yours?

Lucy : I don't even know his last name.
Wyatt :  Well, look on the bright side.
Lucy : There's a bright side?
Wyatt : You still got the honeymoon to look forward to.
Rufus :  Plus you get to go to Vegas.

[indistinct P.A. announcements.]
[machinery whirring.]
[rumbling intensifies.]
[grunting and groaning.]

Nevada, 1962
Wyatt : You couldn't land any more out of the way?
Rufus : You rather I park on the Strip?
[explosion.]
Rufus :  We're too late.
Lucy :  That's not Flynn. There's a nuclear test site about 60 miles on the other side of town.
Rufus : Who's crazy enough to test a nuclear bomb outside of Vegas?
Lucy : The U.S. Department of Energy.
Wyatt : During the '50s and '60s, they tested over 1,000 nuclear weapons in the Nevada desert. Set 'em off a couple times a week. What?  Wyatt : I know my military history.
Lucy : Before Vegas was known as Sin City, they called it Atomic City.
Rufus : Anyone got any sunscreen?

Sands hotel
[upbeat lounge music.]
Rufus : There's, like, 54 years worth of baseball games we can bet on in here. What? You don't like money?
Wyatt :  Security's pretty tight. I don't know how we're gonna get into the show with no tickets, which are sold out.
Lucy : Why don't we call in a bomb threat? They'll shut it down. Clear out JFK.
Wyatt : For once, I know where the son of a bitch is gonna be. I'm taking Flynn out at the show tonight.
Lucy : Okay, so how do you plan on keeping the President and a dozen other celebrities safe?
Wyatt : Saving history is your job. Mine is Flynn.
Lucy : What, so you just get to make this call? - No debate?
Wyatt : No, there's no debate.
Rufus : Guys, I got uniforms We can get in.
Wyatt : What? How did you
Rufus : 'Cause in '62, I'm pretty much invisible. It's my superpower.
Lucy : Really? You couldn't have found me a thong?
Rufus : It's a cigarette girl's uniform. Hey, I didn't invent Vegas.
Lucy : Well, go back and invent me a waitress uniform.
Rufus : Got it.

["Luck Be A Lady" playing.]
Lucy : Ever dream you'd see the Rat Pack?
Rufus : Got to admit, despite the unrelenting fear, this job does have its moments.

Rufus : Anthony. I can't believe I found you. Come on. Let's go. We can get you home.
Anthony :  Rufus. You can't be here. Go.
Rufus :  Not without you. Let's go.
Anthony : If that man comes back and sees you, he'll kill you. He won't listen to me.
Rufus : Why would he? You're his prisoner Who's completely unsupervised. You are his prisoner, right, Anthony?
Anthony au barman : One more.
Rufus : You're helping Garcia Flynn? What does he have on you?

Anthony : Nothing. He doesn't have anything.
Rufus : Then why? People are dying because of Flynn.
Anthony : You don't think I know that?
[cheers and applause.]
[dramatic music.]

Rufus :  Christy who?
Anthony : You'll be with us soon.
Rufus : Anthony, you're not making any sense.

Anthony : Get the hell out of here, Rufus, before it's too late. Go! Here he comes. He'll kill you.

Sinatra : A very good friend of mine, the President of the United States, John Kennedy. Yeah, Jack.
[cheers and applause.]

Flynn : Ms. Campbell, you have a phone call from your sister. It's urgent.
Judith Campbell : Thank you.
[suspenseful music.]
Flynn : You're gonna do exactly as I say. And here is why.
[gun firing.]
[both grunting.]

Rufus : Are you okay?
Wyatt :  Why was he after you?
Judith Campbell : I don't know.
Rufus : Are you Christy Pitt, by any chance?
Judith Campbell : What? No, my name is Judith Campbell.
Lucy : You're Judith Campbell?
Rufus :  Who's Judith Campbell?

Wyatt : I'm saving your life. You're welcome, by the way.

Lucy : We're, uh we're undercover.

Rufus : Why would we bring our badges? We're undercover. They're back at the precinct.
Judith Campbell : If you're cops, I'm Princess Grace.
Lucy : Okay, we're not cops.
Rufus :  Seriously. Really? I really thought I had it sold.
Wyatt : Okay, look. The truth is we do work for the government. We're trying to get the man who grabbed you. His name is Garcia Flynn, and he's dangerous.
Lucy : And if he wants you, he's not gonna stop coming for you.
Wyatt : So why does he want you?
Judith Campbell : Lots of men want me. They're usually more polite about it.
Lucy : Why don't you come freshen up, and we'll get this sorted out?
Judith Campbell : And then you're gonna let me go.
Lucy : Yeah, as soon as possible
Wyatt : Okay, she is hiding something.
Lucy : What she is hiding is that she is Kennedy's mistress.
Rufus :  Seriously?
Lucy :  For the last two years. And Sam Giancana's mistress.
Wyatt : The mob boss?
Lucy : Yes, remember the plot to kill Castro I told you about? She is the one that delivers messages from JFK to the mob. Not a lot of people know her name, but she is at the dead center of 1960s politics.
Rufus : Okay, this is some real Oliver Stone stuff right here.
Lucy : She has some of the most powerful men in the world wrapped around her finger.
Wyatt : So she's an operator. What does Flynn want with her?

[squeaking.]
Wyatt :  Come here! -
Judith Campbell : No! No, you no! You let go of me!
Wyatt : I am tying you up to keep you safe.

Lucy :  He is not going to tie you up.
Wyatt :  Oh, the hell I won't.
Judith Campbell : Look, I don't know what this Flynn guy wants, okay? But he threatened me.
Wyatt :  With what?

Judith Campbell :  He knows things about me. Personal things that are none of your damn business.
Wyatt :  What, like screwing JFK?
Lucy :  Wyatt!
Wyatt : I'm sorry. We cannot play coy anymore.
Lucy : Stop it!
Judith Campbell :  How did you know that? He has pictures, okay? How he got them, I don't know, but if I don't do whatever it is he wants, he could ruin me. And cost Jack the next election.
Lucy : Trust me. We won't say anything.
Judith Campbell : Oh, so I should trust you? Is that before or after he ties me up?

[car engine revving.]
Flynn : You told me they can only see what date we're traveling to. Not where.
Anthony : That's right.
Rufus : So how'd they follow us here?
Anthony : Jiya and Rufus are smart. They must've figured out a way.
Flynn : Rufus. I've had enough of him.
Anthony : Hold on. Rufus is just a civilian. He's not part of this.
Flynn : Not part of this? He's their pilot. If I take him out, they can't chase us at all.
Anthony : He's my friend. You're not gonna touch him.
Flynn : I told you there's gonna be casualties, Anthony. If you can't handle that
Anthony : Don't give me that. I've given up everything for this. My wife. My kids.
Flynn : And I haven't given up mine?
Anthony : I'm not like you. This isn't easy for me. Watching people Good people die.
Flynn : If that's what it takes to wipe Rittenhouse from history, then that's what we have to do.
You understand?

Anthony : All a means to an end, huh?
Flynn : We need to get that woman back.
[doors shut, engine turns over.]

Lucy :  Water?
Judith Campbell : If you sprinkle it on top of a glass of gin. So, you and brooding blue eyes in the next room. You sleeping with him?
Lucy : What? Um, no.
Judith Campbell : He could use it. He's wound pretty tight.
Rufus : Okay, I'll just [clears throat.]
Judith Campbell : So how'd you know? This Flynn guy tell you?
Lucy : Doesn't matter. Your secrets are safe with us. As soon as we find Flynn, you can go back to
Judith Campbell : To Jack? All right. Go ahead, say it. You think I'm a tramp.
Lucy : No. I think you're fascinating.
Judith Campbell : Don't think another woman's ever called me that before.
Lucy : I mean it. A woman Especially in this day and age. Living the life that you're living. The people that you know. The things that you've seen.
Judith Campbell : Honestly, I felt like a nobody. And then one night, I met Jack. And the next morning, it was all different. Like a roller coaster. You ever wake up one day and not recognize your own life?
Lucy : Yes, actually. A lot lately.
Judith Campbell : And now I never know what's going to happen next. I really don't.
Lucy : Isn't that terrifying?
Judith Campbell : Some of the time.
Lucy : Do you ever wish that you could go back to your old life?

Judith Campbell : Never. It'd be easier, I guess, but I think if I did, I'd always wonder.
Lucy : Wonder what?

Judith Campbell : If I was missing out on something better.

Wyatt : You said that name before. Who the hell is Christy Pitt?
Rufus : I don't know, but that's who Anthony said they were here to get.
Wyatt : And Anthony's not a hostage? He's working with Flynn?
Rufus : Yeah, but you got to understand. Anthony would never hurt anyone. He lives for his wife and kids. I don't get it.
Wyatt : I don't get any of this. From the jump, Flynn's been five steps ahead of us. I'm sick of it. Let's get ahead of him for once.
The name Christy Pitt mean anything to you?
Judith Campbell : Never heard of her.
Wyatt : Rufus, find out who she is.
Meantime, we're not gonna find Flynn. Flynn's gonna find you. I'll take you back to your hotel room, and when Flynn shows up, which he will, sooner or later, I'm gonna take him out.
Lucy :  You want to use her as bait?
Wyatt :  He's not gonna hurt her. He needs her for whatever he needs her for.
Rufus : Are we 100% sure this is our best plan?
Judith Campbell : And you'll get the pictures back?
Wyatt : When it's all over? Yeah, they're yours.
Lucy : I need a word. We can't risk it. She's too important to JFK and to history.
Wyatt : I cannot do my job boxed in like this, worried about knocking over a salt shaker and somehow changing history.
Lucy :  This is not a game.
Wyatt : I agree. Flynn wants to wipe out everything, so if we have a shot at him, we take it. I'll do it by myself if I have to.
Lucy : You don't give the orders.
Wyatt : You got a problem, take it up with Agent Christopher.
Lucy : I am not a soldier, I don't take orders, and you are not taking her.
Wyatt : Try and stop me.

Judith Campbell : So, how long I got to stand here?
Wyatt : Until Flynn sees you.
Judith Campbell : And you're sure this is safe?
Wyatt :  Absolutely.
Judith Campbell : I've been around long enough to know when a man is lying.
Wyatt : I'm not lying.
Judith Campbell :  Tell me something. You got a girl? Someone you love? Would you risk her life? Is that how sure you are?
Wyatt : Just trust me.
Judith Campbell : If I had a nickel every time a guy told me that He's coming.

Rufus : Are you sure there's no Christy Pitt here? Got this bottle of champagne I'm supposed to deliver to her.

Rufus : Thanks.
Lucy voyant arriver Flynn : Come on. I'm not just gonna stand here and do nothing.
[phone chimes.]
[Wyatt grunts.]

Judith Campbell : What took you so long?
Flynn : Where are the others?

Wyatt : Rufus, what are you talking about?
Rufus : Christy Pitt. It's not a person. It's the Christy pit. Named after the physicist Robert Christy. It's slang for an A-bomb's plutonium core.

Lucy :  A nuke?
Rufus : Technically an atom bomb.
Lucy : How in the world could Flynn possibly steal an atom bomb without anybody noticing?
Rufus : He doesn't have to steal the whole nuke. Just the plutonium core. Once the pit's removed, it's actually quite small.
Wyatt : Wait, so Flynn is suddenly an expert at dismantling an atomic bomb?
Rufus : Well, Flynn doesn't have to be. He's got Anthony.
Wyatt : Could they take the core in the Mothership?
Rufus : I don't know. It's not exactly something we ever tried before, but if it explodes during a time jump, who knows what it'll do? To the past or the present?
Lucy :  And Flynn's just crazy enough to try it.
[dramatic music.]

Flynn : Good to go?

Wyatt : We got to get to the test site, fast.
Rufus : Welcome to the Sands, sir. See? Invisible.
[engine revving.]

Wyatt : I think that's them. Hold on.

Rufus :  How do you know?
Wyatt : 'Cause then we all blow up.

[tires screeching.]

Rufus : I'll get the nuke.
Lucy : I'll get Judith.
Wyatt : Be careful.
[gunshots firing.]

Rufus : Anthony! Give me the suitcase.
Anthony : I can't.
Rufus : You can't give Flynn an atomic bomb. There is no means to an end that justifies this. I know you, Anthony. This isn't you.

Lucy : Judith! Are you okay?
Judith Campbell : I didn't know. I wouldn't have helped him if I knew about the bomb.
Lucy : I believe you. Okay? I got to get you out of here. Come on!

Rufus : Please.
[empty gun clicking.]
[intense music.]

Rufus : I got it!
Lucy :  : Rufus!
Rufus :  No!
Wyatt : Get out of the way, Rufus!
Rufus :  Anthony gave us the nuke!
Wyatt :  It's not good enough!
Rufus : He's my friend! And he needs our help!

Lucy : So, was it worth it? Protecting Jack?
Judith Campbell : I didn't do it for Jack. I did it for me. I mean, at the end of the day, that's all I have, right?
Lucy :  Hey. Are you gonna be okay?
Judith Campbell : Always am.

Denise Christopher : You can't be serious.

Denise Christopher : But Garcia Flynn is still alive, and he got away with an atomic bomb.
Wyatt : The situation was chaotic.
Rufus : On the upside, we're finally starting to gel as a team. Just saying.
Denise Christopher : And you believe that Anthony is working with Flynn?
Rufus : I think it's complicated. There's got to be an explanation as to why. Anthony's not the type of guy that would do something like that.
Denise Christopher : They never are on the surface. Well, makes one part of our job easier. We don't have to rescue Anthony Bruhl anymore. We just need to eliminate him. Leave Flynn without anyone to pilot the Mothership.
Wyatt : That crossed my mind.
Denise Christopher : And in this gun battle, did you ever get a shot at Anthony?

Rufus : Aren't you at all curious as to why this is all happening?
Wyatt : I don't get trained in why. Just the who, what, where, and when.
